Starter Kits and Webinar update - May

We hit our target! 60 kits are now reserved!

Caroline has been moonlighting as the Green Hive delivery fairy and has safely delivered our first Starter Kits - Gardening and Growing themed - all over Nairn.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped us put these brilliant kits together - from plant and plant pot donations, Greens Nurseries for delivering compost and vegetables, Annie from Keeping Nairnshire Colourful for inspiring us to invent this pack and our greenfingered participants who are helping to make Nairn more sustainable, one veggie at a time! The flexible funding from the National Lottery Community Fund has allowed us to create and distribute these packs as part of our starter kit project - we still have 5 growing kits left to distribute and you can reserve yours here Thank you to everyone who has got in touch and reserved their kit already, Caroline will be in touch to let you know when we are delivering and to check if you have any additional questions or support needed.

Reservations for kits are still open and we would love to hear your ideas for additional kits and webinars as we move in to the summer! You can reserve your kit using the form below -

We have also delivered the first lot of Bumblebags kit out into the community and we can't wait to see what craft creations emerge!

Our Bumblebags volunteers have been busy - with one of our volunteers creating fashionable and hard wearing scrub bags for our amazing NHS staff at Nairn Town and County Hospital - it was our pleasure to donate these super scrub bags to staff and we have more on the way!

We will be launching our first online webinar as part of a series of talks about local enviromental issues that are important to you.

Our first webinar is the Highland Ocean Plastic Webinar 2020 - featuring guest speakers from all over Scotland and worldwide accredited experts in the field of marine plastic pollution.

We will be going live with our guest speakers to discuss ocean plastic and take your questions at 3pm on the 12th of June 2020.

You can sign up to be part of the free webinar here

We are also pleased to share the news that Green Hive has secured funding from the Scottish Government, via Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), to support the Nairnshire community during the COVID-19 crisis, from the Supporting Communities Fund.

HIE is distributing the Supporting Communities Fund in the Highlands and Islands, on behalf of the Scottish Government, for all eligible community anchor organisations, who play an active role in providing services within communities across the region.

Through this funding we are being supported to deliver our community response to the COVID-19 emergency, enabling us to help more people with our successful Starter Kits.

What precautions are Green Hive staff taking to ensure I don’t get Coronavirus?

Our staff are following all Government advice and checking regularly for updates.

Starter Kit Delivery

  • Our staff will call you ahead of arriving at your property to double-check if you’re isolating or not.

  • On arrival, our staff member will ensure they keep a 2 metre distance from your door and will ask you to wait inside whilst they deliver your kit.

  • Our staff will be wearing gloves and are washing their hands regularly.

Will you bring the kit into my home?

All deliveries will now be made to the outside of your main or rear entrance of your home, at your preference. If you have a shared entrance – if you live in an apartment block, for example – this means we’ll bring it to your apartment entrance, and contact you for safe access.

If you’re self-isolating or shielding because of illness or Coronavirus/Covid-19 symptoms, we will leave the item outside on your doorstep.
